Earn Your Doctoral Degree
at Sancta Sophia
Graduate Theological Seminary

Sancta Sophia, an accredited graduate theological seminary, offers five doctoral degrees to students who hold a Master Degree from Sancta Sophia or other accredited masters theological seminary.

• Doctor of Ministry degree:
  for ministers who wish to enhance and refine their approach to ministry. Scholarly study of esoteric Christianity, personal spiritual development, service to community, and an internship or project are key components of this program. All candidates seeking the Doctor of Ministry degree are expected to maintain a working relationship with a church or spiritual group.

• Doctor of Theology degree:
  for those seeking in-depth esoteric study and research into issues of theology. Academic study emphasizes:
  • God Immanent
  • God Transcendent
  • The Mandala of God expressed exoterically

Prerequisite for this program is a Master of Theology or Master of Divinity degree from Sancta Sophia Seminary, or the equivalent. A doctoral project or an original manuscript within areas of theosophy completes the requirement.

• Doctor of Philosophy in Religious Studies degree:
  involves specialized study in Esoteric Christianity, Kabalah, and Agni Yoga. The focus of the program is the examination, elucidation, and elaboration of the tradition of spiritual mystery. Graduates with this degree are prepared for teaching and for work in other professions. Prerequisite for this degree is a background in the study of esoteric tradition.
  
  
• Doctor of Philosophy in Spiritual Studies degree:
  involves a specialized study of the mystical, metaphysical, and esoteric traditions through the pathways of art, science, and spirituality.

The focus of this graduate program is the in-depth examination and clarification of the unfoldment of consciousness from instinct to illumination. Graduates with this degree are prepared for teaching and for work in other professional fields.

• Doctor of Philosophy in Holistic Wellness degree:
  examines the unfoldment of soul-consciousness as the wellness of the physical, mental, and emotional bodies is being refined by the Spirit-Within.

The focus of specialized study is on the wellness of the body, mind, and spirit from an intuitive soul-centered approach. The relationship of the inner life to the outer is emphasized through the use of natural healing techniques, counseling, and meditation.

Graduates with this degree are prepared to represent a holistic wellness approach in other professional fields.

Doctoral Degrees: Basic Courses and Requirements

Your Doctor of Ministry or other graduate program in Christian theology will be individualized for you to assure that your metaphysical studies at Sancta Sophia will enrich your body, mind, and spirit.

Students who have earned a Master Degree at Sancta Sophia Seminary may build upon it to complete their Doctoral Degree with a second trimester of week-long residency for each of the following core curriculum topics:

• Graduate Trimester I – February: Christian Theology
• Graduate Trimester II – May: Technologies for Spiritual Emergence
• Graduate Trimester III – September: Convergence of Science and Spirituality

In addition, Doctoral candidates must complete three more trimesters for dissertation instruction and writing. A project and an oral presentation, as well as a written dissertation are required. The project for each degree may be an original publishable manuscript.

If You Completed Your Master Degree at Another School

Students who have earned their Master Degree at another graduate theological seminary are welcome to enroll in the Doctoral Degree program at Sancta Sophia Seminary. If the requisite master degree was not awarded from Sancta Sophia Seminary, an additional trimester of each of the core curriculum subjects is mandatory, along with completion of Foundations of Spirituality.
