Dissertation:
Living Foods as an Adjunct to the Spiritual Path
Janet Allen, 2008
Abstract
Live food is fast becoming known as the ultimate healing diet. Spiritually, the body is the temple of the Holy Spirit or the soul. When the body-temple is allowed to purify itself, physical healing, as well as mental and spiritual elevation, can occur. Physical health affects mental and emotional health, which in turn affect the physical. When the other levels are healed and purified, spiritual growth is much easier. Health can not be forced, but comes when noxious habits are discontinued. Fortunately, there are lots of pure live vegan foods to substitute for the polluting ones. Genuine health can only be holistic. Holding on to negative habits of eating and thinking blocks spiritual growth.
The problem is that many are ill on all levels and are unaware that their own lifestyle may be altered to help them heal. People are not aware that aging does not necessarily mean illness and that many signs of aging can be reversed. The author is a nurse practitioner and feels nurses would be excellent health coaches with this information.
This paper gives a complete review of the literature available (much if it out of print) and the meager studies that have been done. There were no studies found that addressed the topic of live food and spiritual growth. The philosophy of enhancing the energy of the physical body, with food energized by the sun and eaten as it is given, is explained, and several testimonials of the experiences of other people with this method are presented. The concept is developed, connecting the changes in vibrational energies in this Age of Aquarius to the importance of clearing the impurities from the body. Brief explanations of the mysteries, the New Age, and how energy works in the body are given.
The compelling research studies conducted on two groups of subjects—one done retrospectively with people who had already learned of the live-food benefits, and the other done with new subjects, using a before and after format—are discussed in detail. Evidence of substantial improvement was reported from both studies and on all levels—physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual.
In addition to the author’s background as a nurse practitioner, she has lived for five years, as of this writing, on a completely live diet, and gives extensive information about the live-food lifestyle. The appendix section contains a list of books reviewed on the philosophy that give practical instructions on how to transition to a live-food diet. In addition, there are lists of recommended recipe books, live food websites, and several of the author’s favorite recipes.
