Becoming the Technology for
Spiritual Emergence

Every time I see the message: This station will stop broadcasting in analog and begin broad-casting digitally flash across the television screen, I’m convinced that the universe is trying to get us to understand the message: There’s not only a new day dawning, but you are to become a new being. You are no longer to be tuned to the demands of the personality. You must now become tuned to the call of the soul-infused personality.
And I ask myself:
- Am I prepared to receive these new signals coming from the world of soul?
- Have I sufficiently constructed my subtle communication network (the upper portions of the Antahkarana and the Etheric Body) so that I can hear?
- Have I sufficiently unfolded the Petals of the Egoic Lotus (Heart Center) so that I can respond?
The human receiver set (our physical, astral, and mental body vehicles) was built over millions of years by the dedicated efforts of the lunar pitris, the elementals of the Material World, who were tuned to the broadcast message: Construct a human form that can function in the world of matter. Said another way, the human receiver set of today is the result of millions of years of evolution and adaption in answer to the instinctual nature’s mandate to survive in the physical world.
Modern science has documented that the human brain and human nervous system have changed, adapted, grown new pathways, and manifested new abilities as the human consciousness grew beyond the instinctual level and as humanity developed the ability to think, to evaluate, to decide, and to choose how to act.
The contours of the physical brain itself became more complex as new areas of the brain became functional. Over thousands of centuries, the physical brain evolved beyond the reptilian (limbic) functions of basic physical survival. The paleo-mammalian and mammalian brain functions of feeling and relationship evolved, and the neo-cortex, with its ability to evaluate and choose, developed as human consciousness expanded beyond instinct into the realm of the intellect. Over thousands of centuries, the lunar pitris, those elemental builders of the Material World, continued their work in response to the call: Construct a human form that can function well in the world of matter.
But today, forerunners within the human family are being challenged to grow beyond the intellect and emerge into the somewhat uncharted area of the intuition, answering the call that is described in the Bailey writings as the move From Intellect to Intuition. And it is natural to assume that once again, over a period of time, changes to the brain and to the nervous system will unfold as humanity succeeds in its process of evolution and adaption and develops the subtle underlying structure that will manifest our updated receiver set: the soul-infused personality, a form that can withstand the fiery emanations of soul while remaining incarnated in the Material World.
In his book The Jewel in the Lotus, Dr. Douglas Baker writes:
And now, new equipment comes into operation in the initiate. The disciple is a spiritual embryo and must grow, rapidly, new organs for perception of the inner worlds and for dealing with higher energies. The constant inflow of Fohat, of Electric and Solar Fire must express itself or the disciple will be consumed ... what physical organ bears the main brunt of these fiery intrusions and assists, more than any, in turning them to creative use? ... that is the Vagus Nerve ... [which] provides the main physical channel for the conducting of Fire into the substance of the tissues themselves.
As the individual strives to develop a form capable of withstanding and containing the fiery vibrations of soul, the aspirant must learn to replace the lunar pitris with Solar Pitris, the builders. In Esoteric Anatomy vol. 1 Dr. Baker writes:
Vagus tissue is different. Solar devas make up the indwelling hosts of these nerve cells. They are responsive to Solar Fire whereas other cells respond to the energy of the Fire by Friction. The Vagus Nerve is an outpost of Solar Fire.
The nation-wide mandated conversion date from analog to digital was pushed back to June, 2009, although several stations here in Oklahoma made the transition from analog to digital on the original date of 2/17/09. I cannot help but wonder: What is the conversion date for Humanity, the animal with a mind, to become Humanity, soul-infused?
The Mayan writings have been quite clear about the conversion date: 2012. There is much to suggest that the “conversion” may not happen in one blinding flash, but rather, the “conversion” from old equipment to new equipment has in fact been in process for many years.
It was no accident that over 25 years ago, Rev. Carol Parrish, Dean of Sancta Sophia Seminary, named the May Graduate Trimester “Technologies for Spiritual Emergence.” She knew that through the dedicated and focused efforts of each awakening individual to embody the higher principles and vibrations, humanity was to become the spiritual technology through which the next great evolutionary leap in consciousness, foretold by spiritual writings of many traditions, would become a reality in the Material World.
She also knew that some students would be interested in investigating the details behind the creation of this subtle new equipment, while others would only ask: How do I turn this thing on?
