Dare to Hold a Vision
by Rev. Carol E. Parrish-Harra, Ph.D.
As we step, day by day into the new millennium, let us hold a vision for the new time, for a state of Wellness, a consciousness wherein each level of our nature is honored. Let us perceive the beauty and the resources of our planet as of great value, that the Earth herself will be restored to Wellness.
All of us realize how out of balance humanity is on the emotional level. If you and I are consciously attempting to live harmoniously, and most of us are, we have to know how much more difficult it is for those who have no concept of how to discipline this powerful battery we each contain. Conscious living provides the ideas needed to lift us out of unconscious responses and impulses and can gift some tools to those who need assistance. The ancients believed humanity's emotions affected the weather-storms and droughts. We certainly must bring our emotions into check and create a loving environment wherein both humanity and the world of nature can find serenity.
Mentally, we are driven today to know. Most identify with the rational mind—a limited part of our cognitive capability. As we expand this ability and ask the powerful questions that in due time we all are to explore, the door opens to trust the Holy Consciousness that set it all into motion. We must trust and know there is a better way for all life to function, and it begins by expansion of consciousness—our consciousness, not our neighbor's. Peace of mind is the gift of dialog known as prayer and meditation. We communicate with the Great Life "in whom we live and move and have our being." We come to trust the spark of the Creator that dwells within, and we dare to be the holy incarnate—the hope of glory.
As we become conscious of the God-spark within, called by any name, we ultimately choose to be empowered by it to find purpose and joy; then we seek this same spark within others. This is the power point that aligns our physical, emotional, and mental levels, creating the Wellness we each crave. This sense of well-being is the cure of most ills. It requires a shift of values that will come naturally as we adopt a new attitude about ourselves. We are to know we are of great value and part of a divine Plan. We are called to our role in the drama; as a conscious one, we dare to do, to be, and to share.
Wellness—a great goal-is the witness to integration and wholeness. To reach this goal, we often need guides to help us open some doors. We may need to release the old pictures that have held us in restriction and/or create the new images that reveal our inner beauty. We discover the talents that may be lying fallow in the field (the physical life).
The challenge to humanity is to dare to become the true self: "remember ye are gods," as recorded in both the Old and the New Testaments. We are called to create. As each of us takes one step forward, all of the human family establishes a new, firmer foundation. We must at all times remember as awakened ones that we are a nice portion of our country's group mind. Embrace Wellness. If you need assistance, connect with one who knows the way. It saves us all.
Wellness, on behalf of our own nature and by extension for the benefit of all, is becoming conscious of our innate nature with its inner wisdom—Sophia—and learning to allow it to speak to us through body, mind, and spirit. By this effort, we reenter planetary life aware of humanity's role as bridge of light to connect spirit and matter. This not only changes the life of the planet, but also creates numerous solutions for the human condition.
This is the Great Work of our time.
